Spring 2011 Fiction Submissions

Spring is the time of year when Cleis Press accepts a slew of submissions for their erotica anthologies. Here are the ones that interest me:

Best Lesbian Romance. Word count: 1500 - 5000 words. Erotic content is welcome as long as the emotional/romantic elements are focal. Deadline for Submissions: March 15, 2011.

Best Lesbian Erotica All submissions must be typed and double-spaced; number the pages. Each submission should be a maximum of 5,000 words. Deadline April 1, 2011.

Best Bondage Erotica. Bondage should be a central focus of the erotic element of the story but the plot does not have to hinge on bondage. Word count: 1500 - 5000 words. Deadline: April 1, 2011. Original stories strongly preferred, but reprints of work published (or slated to be published) between September 2010 and November 2011 will be considered.

Kinky Couples.Couples can be of any sexual orientation but the book's primary audience and focus is on heterosexual couples. The final book will feature couples who've just met but will contain mostly stories about already-established couples who are engaging in BDSM in various forms. I'm looking for a mix of male and female tops and bottoms (and switches), as well as a mix of physical and mental power play. Deadline: April 1, 2011.

Corsets And Clockworks. The desired story length is 2,500-5,000 words. Submission Deadline: February 15 (earlier submissions preferred!). Steampunk erotic romance is shiny brass and crushed velvet; mechanical inventions and romantic conventions; sexual fantasy and kinky fetish.

Bound By Lust. Deadline: March 1, 2011. For this collection, I'm interested in romantic, couples-focused erotica with a BDSM slant. The BDSM aspect of this is wide open—bondage, spanking, domination, submission, power-play, pain and pleasure, or whatever your dirty mind can think of. Bring on the rope and rough stuff, the dens and dungeons, the corsets and clamps and cuffs. But don't forget the romance! Stories should be previously unpublished, between 500 and 5,000 words.

Best Women's Erotica. Deadline: May 1st, 2011. The desired orientation within the main sexual element of the stories is primarily heterosexual, yet bisexuality and lesbian encounters are also encouraged. The primary focus of sexual activity must be on the female experience; female pleasure is the main element. A playful, clever approach is welcome, as are intense scenarios. Best Women's Erotica is a legendary and groundbreaking yearly series, and is the best-selling women's erotica collection, period.
